In the current project "Next Generation SMOS data" the salinity data originating in the SMOS Version 620 will be validated by comparing them to salinity data from in situ measurements and climatological fields. Based on the salinity differences a bias corrected product is generated.
Circulation models help to understand changes in sea surface salinity and to derive scales of salinity variability.
